Moderate Snow Accumulations Possible Monday and Monday night A - TopicsExpress

Moderate Snow Accumulations Possible Monday and Monday night A quickly developing low pressure system will track across the Upper Great Lakes Sunday night through Monday night. Precipitation will fall as rain across all of Upper Michigan Sunday evening...with the heaviest rainfall across Central and Eastern Upper Michigan. As the low pressure system passes near the Straits of Mackinac early Monday morning...cold air will begin to filter across Western Upper Michigan and quickly transition the rain to snow. This transition should reach Ironwood shortly after midnight Sunday night...and continue eastward to a line from Iron Mountain to Marquette by late Monday morning. The snow will be very wet initially and fall moderately at times...creating slushy conditions on area roadways. Strong north to northwest winds of 20 to 30 mph and gusts to 40 mph will be possible near Lake Superior and result in lake enhanced snow. Total snowfall accumulations may surpass six inches from Monday morning through Monday night for Western Upper Michigan and the high terrain of North-Central Upper Michigan. Stay tuned to later forecasts as there is still some uncertainty of the exact track and intensity of the low pressure system.
