Modern medicine! What a blessing. 48 hours after I checked in at Mt. Sinai, Im home, being forced to rest while what I really want to do is get out and enjoy this beautiful early autumn weather. My thanks and admiration go to Dr. Elisa Port, Dr. Adam Kolker, the medical staff, and amazing care givers at Mt. Sinai and 11 West. As I headed into the operating room with a terrific medical entourage, I felt such a sense of safety and peace. We were all able to enjoy some laughter and smiles before I drifted off. Next thing I knew, I was awake and my gorgeous family was by my side. Steve and his wonderful sister Sheri, my kids Jake, Kate, and Will, and Jakes lovely girlfriend Anna were all there to escort me to my room. I had a much welcomed dish of raspberry sorbet, a beautiful view looking over NYC, and a good nights sleep. Yesterday was sleepy but comfortable with a boatload of visitors including the whole family, plus my wonderful cousin Bruce, many dear friends like Annette Batson, Isabelle Latimer, and her yummy son Brian Latimer, as well as an endless and much welcomed stream of calls, texts, and Facebook and email get well wishes. Every one of your messages was read and every one contributes to my healing. I am so grateful for the prayers, the care, the love, and the humor! A special thank you to Scott and Trish Shannon for your love and support during this process and for helping to guide me to my amazing doctors. To my beautiful boss Jim Ryan, for your strength and love, to the Big Show boys . . Joe, Mr. G, Brad, Louis, Trevor/Kermit :-), Joey, and to my very special pals Alice, Nina, Jackie, wonderful Grace, Eddie Latimer, and Rabbi Steve Kushner. My beautiful Katie (16 going on 30) spent the night in the hospital with me last night and took care of every little need I could imagine. She made me feel so safe and loved. Im on my way . . more healing to come, along with more love and laughter. Cant wait to get back to CBS-FM!
