Modi takes Voter Registration Nationwide Posted by : India272 Campaign | Category : Aspirational Politics, Blog Narendra Modi, Prime Ministerial candidate of the BJP-led NDA, has always been encouraging youth to register as voters through his speeches, his website, and also through all the social media platforms starting with his Blog Post on the eve of Independence Day. Today however Narendra Modi, took this non-partisan effort one step ahead and like a true statesman asked national prominent voices on social media to promote voter registration among youngsters & strengthen our democracy. He has requested His Holiness Dalai Lama, PMO India; leader of opposition in LS Sushma Swaraj; CM of Madhya Pradesh Shivraj Chouhan; a host of popular movie actors including Amitabh Bachchan, Anupam Kher, Shah Rukh Khan, Salman Khan, Aamir Khan, Priyanka Chopra, Deepika Padukone, Hrithik Roshan, Akshay Kumar, and Priety Zinta; cricketing idol Sachin Tendulkar; Indian social activist and a retired Indian Police Service (IPS) officer Kiran Bedi; and spiritual leader and founder of the Art of Living Foundation Sri Sri Ravi Shankar to encourage the youth to register as voters. Importance of voter registration can never be undermined and Mr. Modi has been constantly encouraging youth to register as voters as is very visible in these tweets. During the recently held Jaipur and Rewari rallies also he urged the citizens and especially youth to register as voters. During Jaipur rally he said that in our lives we reach a very important stage when we become eligible to vote but unfortunately there is no celebration on that occasion alike other important occasions in life of a person. He had told from the podium that our constitution has given us this priceless gift in the form of right to vote at the age of 18. He said that the occasion of a person becoming eligible to vote should be celebrated as one can now change the destiny of the nation. His passionate appeal to register as voter saw a flood of such tweets to create awareness among people for registering as voters and also exercising their right to vote.
