Mogogi Gabonamong: Celtic are hungry for silverware. Phunya Sele Sele’s Mogogi Gabonamong believes his side can go all the way to lift the MTN8 Cup. Celtic face Bidvest Wits in their opening match this evening. Bloem Celtic midfielder Mogogi Gabonamong told the clubs official website that he is confident ahead of their quarter-final MTN8 encounter against The Clever Boys this evening. Siwelele will rely on the experience of Gabonamong, as well as that of former SuperSport United captain Bevan Fransman and former Maritzburg United defender Ruben Cloete. “I feel we have one of our best teams at Celtic in recent years, full of experience, hungry for silverware and desperate to pick up a trophy for the supporters and new owners,” said Gabonamong. Celtic coach Ernst Middendorp has made some significant acquisitions to his backline during the off season with the likes of Fransman and recently Keegan Ritchie. “Wits are a quality team no doubt but with our new signings, a great coach and a belief in our system, there is no reason we cannot lift the title,” added Gabonamong. Phunya Sele Sele claimed their first trophy of the season two weeks back when they defeated AmaZulu 2-0 in the final, following a narrow 1-0 victory of Wits in the semi-final. Celtic will look for a repeat result and optimistically go all the way to lift the MTN8 Trophy as was done back in 2005.
