Mom here... I spent some time yesterday at my towns kill shelter where I visit to donate supplies and help where I can. I had written a long post detailing some of what i witnessed but decided against it. the below sums it up. This shelter is overflowing and does a good job but there arent enough homes. Please - DO NOT SUPPORT THE BREEDING OF ANIMALS. PERIOD! If we lose friends because of this post, I am sorry if i upset you. But this is in my core. Sometimes I feel like all of the TNR and education doesnt make a dent in the overpopulation. There arent enough homes. To put it in perspective, BOTH Cotton and Beanie are rescues. Cotton, from a very caring person who took her pregnant mom in. She was discarded like trash and was scrounging for food, very pregnant. Beanie was pulled from the Brooklyn NY ACC, one of the highest kill shelters in the country. She only had 24 hours before euthanasia. Two perfect animals, that just needed a chance.
