Mom is peacefully sleeping for the first night in 5 days. I find myself awake looking over the city view from her hospital room. The city is lit up and never sleeps. I find myself missing the quiet woods of Marion Co. And being next to Charlie. Life has so many twist and turns and changes so quickly, the excitement of mom coming to visit has turned into uncertain days and questions of what her future holds. Our goal is to provide mom with the best possible medical care and rehab possible. She has total paralysis on the right side of her body along with a few medical issues that require intense acute rehab. Louisville has just what we need at Frazier rehab....but things are not as easy as they sound.....mom is from out of state....so now as we seek the best medical care needed we are fighting a person sitting at a desk hundreds of miles away who know nothing about my mother other than her name on a piece of paper. Its sad to know that our healthcare system it based on what an insurance company says instead of what the Doctor recommends. As we sit and wait for decisions to be made precious time is being lost. The first 6-8 weeks after a stroke is the most important time for a body to regain function of affected body parts. This is done with intense daily rehab. Mom needs physical, occupational and speech therapy, all which is on hold due to red tape and a messed up healthcare system. We ask that all our friends continue to lift mom and her needs up in prayer. Please pray for me and my siblings as we are physically and mentally exhausted. We will continue to praise him in the storm!!
