Mom update: 19 Wow...I almost dont know where to begin. I am absolutely exhausted. Was at hospital about 12 hours. After talking to Dr. Dodson I went to Hell South and retrieved all of moms belongings, balloons, clothes, etc. I was so relieved to see him at the ER. He is totally familiar with moms case PLUS mom has a HUGE crush on him. He is a brilliant, brilliant doctor!! We had him during our previous 2 week stay at Memorial. So now I realize my mom is a cougar on the prowl. lol. After she was flying high on dilaudid (she has had no pain pills or food for 3 days) she kept saying Where is my boyfriend? He walked out and she blurted out...Yep, he is my boyfriend. ;-) That is about where the humor ends for the day (although I did tease her about the Doc crush....and could always make her smile. At this point only the right corner can smile, but I could feel the intensity. Besides we smile more with our eyes than anything. ;-) Even though we had a couple of good nurses at Hell South the reason mom is so damn sick is from their lack of recognizing this very infection. Also, the person that typed in every one of moms discharge orders screw the whole thing up. Guess who she was? That dingbat I took a photo of texting instead of entering data on a computer. I posted a photo of her a couple of days ago. They missed doctors appointments that Doc Dodson made for her. Needless to say I cannot recommend this rehab hospital to anyone, nor will we go back! I will say the facilities are brand new and gorgeous! At this point the biggest fire to put out is the staph infection. From her jawbone to her ear is red, and very warm to the touch, yet she has no fever. Doc said they had to drain this immediately (tomorrow). He also said he has seen cases not as bad as this one that have to have surgery. He did not say that in front of mom. He also was upset they did not catch this at Hell South. He said this could possibly even be MRSA and did some kind of lab to test. I misunderstood the other Doctor....her level was not 1171, it was 771. The other number was 350. This is indicative of pancreatitis, or could be the combo of anything from an ulcer on the small intestine near the pancreas duct, to gallstones, and a couple other things. This is about all I know at this point. I stayed until we got settled in (where we wanted...100 south!!!!!). Mom is on her 3rd day of NPO but the doc will let her have Sprite Zero and water. She is on her third unit of fluids, and now with a very strong antibiotic. We got settled in and when she got her nausea shot and morphine she was looped and dozing. I felt okay and not worried at all about her care so I came home to feed the critters. Prayer warriors keep at it ;-) Thanks for all of your prayers and support. Whew...approaching the 4th week of this roller coaster ride. God Bless
