Mommy Question... So Ive been having a tough time overall with breastfeeding since my son was born. Started with latching issues, cracked nipples, nipple infection, having to pump and bottle feed, two rounds of mastitis... Ya know I guess all that stuff is pretty common. However, apparently having a biopsy while breastfeeding is not common. I had a biopsy of my left breast yesterday because I had a pretty large lump there that had been there throughout my pregnancy and maybe longer if I had felt it. My OB sent me for an ultrasound which then turned into a mammogram. Those results led me to a breast surgeon and then a biopsy which I had yesterday. I am still pumping through the pain and discomfort but its very difficult. Especially because I was told I would need to pump and dump the milk from my left breast because there could be blood in it even if it is microscopic amounts. I am still bandaged up but I was told that the incision area would most likely leak milk from it because they had to go through my milk ducts. I cant nurse on that side for a while and Im trying to keep up my supply in hopes that everything will come back normal and surgery wont be needed at least until Im done nursing. Today I called a lactation consultant and she said I should be able to give him the milk from both breasts. I just did and he spit up more than his usual amount... I feel very defeated lately. Has anyone else had a biopsy while breastfeeding? Anyone have any advice on any of this?
