Monday, January 19, 2015 Text: “Take heed to yourselves, that your heart be not deceived, and ye turn aside, and serve other gods, and worship them; And then the LORDS wrath be kindled against you.” - Deuteronomy 11:16,17. Comment: The role of the heart in relation to ones actions, cannot be over-emphasized. Actions stem from the heart and whether ones thoughts are good or bad, would determine whether such one would get life or not. God Almighty is a jealous God and does not tolerate any of His worshippers deviating from the true way to serve other gods. Moses told the Jews in those days, “And now, Israel, what doth the LORD thy God require of thee, but to fear the LORD thy God, to walk in all his ways, and to love him, and to serve the LORD thy God with all thy heart and with all thy soul, To keep the commandments of the LORD, and his statutes, which I command thee this day for thy good?” (Deuteronomy 10:12) There are those who are in Gods Organization but who are no longer faithful to God but are actually worshipping the gods of money, pleasure and power. For such ones the work of God is secondary; material concerns come first – meaning that they are ready to compromise their faith for material things. Once a person puts personal interests before the laws of God, then there is danger. To get people of God to come to His side, the devil afflicts people with ill-health, poverty, calamities, death and so on, so that out of fear, such ones would seek help from Him. Those who think it is by seeking help from the devil that they will get relief have been deceived. Having known the true God a Christian who backslides will only meet a worse fate. See Isaiah 8:19,20; 2 Peter 2:20-22.
