Monday, January 26, 2015 Doug had a rough day yesterday. I think he may have been overly tired from a busy couple of days. He didnt sleep well Saturday night and was very pensive yesterday. Was beginning to worry because he didnt want to talk or eat, but late in the afternoon, he took a nap and seemed to be himself. It is so easy to think everything has a semblance of being back to normal because he has longer periods of times of lucidness. But then its hard to be hit in the face with reality. We may be talking about his legs and how he is healing so well, and then he may say I will get up and get around so we can go out! It is like a bucket of ice water to your very core! He does feel better so that makes it hard to be laying in a bed all the time. It is hard going back and forth on not being able to get out of bed. You think he understands and is putting it all together only to be asked again to help him get out of bed. This is always worse when he is tired. He will start more intense therapy this week. He will be sitting up more and hopefully in a wheelchair for part of the day. That will help him tremendously. I told him I would take him outside on the paths that he can see from his window. We also go Wednesday to see his Orthopedic Surgeon about having the external fixator off. Then he would be able to bend the left knee. We make our plans as to how we think each day will unfold, but then we realize that we may plan, but God already has a plan. It is this plan that will unfold in Gods timing. There is a measure of comfort in knowing this but also some anxious moments when what you thought would happen doesnt! Specific Prayer Needs: Strength for therapy Appetite to return Continued healing of body and mind, clarity and recall For I know Whom I have believed and am persuaded that He is able, to keep that which Ive committed, unto Him against that day. Proverbs 4:20-22. My son, pay attention to what I say; listen closely to my words. Do not let them out of your sight, keep them within your heart for they are life to those that find them and health to a mans whole body. I love the way Dougs first reaction to pain or discomfort is to pray. He will say, honey, we need to pray for this pain in my head or in my leg. He will visibly relax with prayer. I know where his faith is and I know it is strong. That helps strengthen me! Love to all with a big hug, Nadine
