Monday, March 10, 2014 No one can enter the kingdom of God without being born of water and Spirit. John 3:5 Do you not know that all of us who have been baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into his death? Romans 6:3 Water A shower on a hot summer day. A hot shower on a cold winter day. A canoe on the lake. A finger dipped into the font, making the sign of the cross on my forehead. Cool me down. Warm me up. Bear me along. Mark me as Christ’s forever. Water—washing, cleansing, as present as the dirt of my sinfulness. What a great gift the Lord of Creation has given in this water from which comes my very life, making me new every day. Every time I shower or wash my face I remember my baptism, and ask God to wash my sins away. Simple—but not silly—a daily reminder of God’s hand in my life and God’s blessing.
