Monday:: March 31, 2014:: First of all, WHERE IS SPRING? Not here in SC yet, that is for sure! I am ready for spring, it has been a tough cold winter, many people are now using their heat sparingly or totally out of heat. Cant afford it, exhausted H.E.A.P, bills just too high for the average or low income family to keep up with. There are all things I am hearing as spring nears. Exceptionally rough and volatile winter, almost over , a good thing ! I am going to be proactive here and look down the road to the hot weather. When summer comes, many of our friends in this group will be looking for air conditioners and fans. So many reasons: Asthmatic children, allergies, elderly people, people with breathing problems of all kinds. Last year we were able to help 7 families with air conditioners and 12 families with fans, all donated by YOU, our members. SO, if you are thinking of getting a new air conditioner this year, or have a fan that you no longer use, PLEASE THINK OF US !! Your gifts of cooling items lead to a healthier and better place for so many people. I know it is only almost April 1st but soon you will be doing your spring cleaning so now is the time to think about it ! We will pick up thanks for considering this. A big thank you to Jean Dermer for your gift of a freezer for the Federation for the Homeless and many MANY other things to our group. and of course, to John Picarello for his tireless effort to help us. Thanks for keeping that promise John ! I am relaying a post from our member, Jackie Murphy, who is facilitating an effort to raise money for this family : Please read below: Jackie Murphy Quick update for everyone:: Michelle and her family got the phone call. J.J. has a heart. They are at Methodist Hospital in Manhattan NYC unfortunately there is a family out there that has lost a child but thank God they have opened their hearts to the many that are out there in need. My prayers go out to both families today.May God watch over them in their time of sorrow and may they have faith that God is with them............................................J.M. Little JJ will be getting his new heart today I assume and with Gods help , will live a long and happy life. The little one who died and gave his heart to save JJs life is now in the arms of the angels in heaven. I dont know what to say about that other than GOD BLESS THE CHILDREN, ALL . Thank you all for your generous donations to us for the Bingo Game at the Fed. We are good, as soon as I collect from Julie Sandoval we will have enough prizes to hold the Bingo on April 16 . I would like to congratulate the TVCS kids for raising $1500 worth of food for their local food pantry during their color war , and Girl Scout Troop #60 as well who held a spaghetti dinner last Sat night , proceeds donated to the same food pantry. My grandchildren participated , which made it all the more special to me. The next generation of philanthropists ! I LOVE it ! We are here for you Friends ! PS:: We are in need of a rolling walker with a seat on it for a very special lady who is recently out of the hospital , volunteers fora local organization on a regular basis and has always helped the community any time or way she can. Now she needs this little helping hand, Please?? The walker she is using has no seat on it. she also needs a hassock for elevating her feet, just let me know if anyone out there can help.
