Monday, May 12, 2014 St. Leopold Mandic, Capuchin, Priest (Memorial) First Reading: Acts 11:1-18 Psalm: Psalms 42:2-3; 43:3-4 Gospel: John 10:1-10 or John 10:11-18 Reflection: The early church made up of Jewish converts had the problem of admitting Gentiles (pagans) in to the Christian fold. These converts had an exclusive view of Religion. Peter’s narration of his experience of his vision in Jaffa where God affirms the sacredness of the entire creature before him brought about a radical change in the attitude of the Jewish convert to the pagans. The first reading from the act of the Apostles challenges us to re-examines our attitude toward people who do not share same faith with us. We must eschew all forms of religious exclusivism and bias against people of other faith. The mission of Jesus is that we may have life and have it to the full.
