Monday, October 21, 2013 Good morning to each of you on this cool, Fall morning. Let me begin today by saying Happy Birthday to our granddaughter, Reagan, who is 14 today. Hope you have a great day! Please lift up the Fred Wilbanks family today in your prayers. As most of you know, Fred went to be with the Lord late Saturday evening. The family visitation time is tonight at the local funeral home, 5:00 to 7:30 PM. The service will be here at First Baptist tomorrow afternoon at 2:00. There will be a meal for the family in our fellowship hall at 12:30 pm tomorrow, so please help out by bringing food to the church by 11:30 am. Lets all watch for ways to let our light shine for Jesus this week, and share Him with others at every opportunity. As we saw yesterday, we are called as Christians to be His watchmen, warning others of what is to come if they reject Him. TODAYS THOUGHT: Redeemed and I love to proclaim it, redeemed by the blood of the Lamb! Thats a line from a wonderful old hymn that reminds us that Jesus redeemed us from the bondage or slavery of sin. The picture of being redeemed is that you were on the auction block as a slave, being sold to spend your life as a slave of sin. The Enemy of your soul had taken charge of you, and daily offered you to be a slave to all kinds of sinful actions. But the Master, the Lord Jesus, stepped up when you realized your hopeless state and cried out to Him for mercy. He had laid down His own life on the Cross, suffering your punishment for you, and then rising again the third day after He died, eternally victorious over sin, Satan, and the grave. He paid the price for you with His own blood! If you have truly been redeemed by Him, you were set free from that old master of sin and Satan, and became Jesus possession. The good news is that even though you are His servant, you are also His FAMILY! He adopted you as His own when you gave your life to Him. We are to forever serve Him with grateful hearts for what He did for us at Calvary, yet we serve Him not as a slave but as His own family! He loved us when we were so unlovely. He loved us before we loved Him. He continues daily to love us, and show us His mercy, grace, and forgiveness. We are to serve Him daily out of a love for Him for all He has done for us; not just out of duty. Remember the words of John in his first epistle. (I John 4:10) In this is love, not that we loved God, but that He loved us and sent His Son to be the propitiation (payment) for our sins. THAT is what Jesus has done for YOU if you belong to Him today! If you are not His today, you can be, because He died for YOU too. Praise Him and thank Him today for His unspeakable gift! Blessings and love to you and yours today, Bro.
