Monday. September 30, 2013 4:30 p.m. A little bird once had a conversation with a lonely tree. Bird: “You know life must’ve been tough if one will have to live through it standing on the same place day after another.” Tree: “You won’t be able to understand what you have just said.” Bird: “But friend I got a story for you. Let’s just call this an amusement as I rest in the grandeur of your branches.” Tree: “I heard a number of tales before. They aren’t really amusing though, as those fanatics describe them to be. If anything, they are as vague as a tree. ” Bird: “Ow! So aren’t you going to listen to my story?” Tree: “Well, for you, I might reconsider my resolve. Only if you’ll promise me that it will not last an hour.” Bird: “Yes! This’ll be hasty…” The bird began her story. And while in the manner of listening, the tree noticed something special, something gorgeous - something so unreal for a desolate and lonely life. He stares at the bird for a couple of hours, unaware that the perfection he’s looking at is breaking in towards his dejected soul. A mystery that will never dawn on him if the bird has not came through his life. The tree and the bird became good friends. And the tree, like never before, learned to smile and experience a tincture of joy that he knew not of. He loves listening to the same story over and over again. He did not grow tired of listening, more so did he not divert his eyes away from this lovely creature. The bird indeed was very beautiful and possesses a rare, distinct voice. She knew that one of these days she will have to abandon her friend and fly away to fulfil what birds are meant to do with their short time on earth. But the bird failed to notice, after all the times they spent together, that her friend is fading faster that she thought she is. The agony and pain of existence had taken its toll on the poor tree. He never had a time to be happy, which only means, he never had really lived. All this time, even if the tree felt that life has to be true, even if his roots continuously sap the ground for water, he never really had lived; because he never had known the meaning of living, he just felt that it was there somewhere. Tree: “I never thought of life in such terms.” Bird: “Maybe because you were not able to see more of it. As for me, I got it all framed from above.” Tree: “Or maybe I was not able to find any reason to live.” Bird: “Yah, having stuck on the same place for a lifetime must’ve been frustrating.” The bird did not understand. And she became closer and closer towards the conclusion of her story. Tree: “I wish this moment will last forever.” Bird: “Forever? NO. Forever has to stay in these moments.” The tree knew that the bird did not mean that for good. She is leaving. And this’ll be the last few hours he and the bird will be together. Tree: “Can I ask you a favour?” Bird: “Sure, what is it?” Tree: “After you finished your story. Would you mind if I ask you to carve something out on my trunk?” Bird: “Oh! No problem. What is it you want me to write?” Tree: “The last line of your story.” The bird was surprised. Having not told him the ending yet, she taught that the request was absurd. Bird: “Are you sure?” Tree: “Yes. I’m sure.” Bird: “But it is not possible” Tree: “Yah. That’s how I thought life is until you came.” Bird: “Would you at least allow me first to finish my story?” Tree: “Ok. I think I can still hold it up for an hour.” Bird: “The boy fell in love with the girl. They were happy for quite a time, until suddenly, the girl has to leave for another place. The boy felt very sad, and he lost every reason to fight. He was struggling from heart disease for years since he was five. The girl knew nothing about it. And a day before the girl has to leave, she visited her lover. She found out that he was not at home. So she tried to look for him to the places they use to venture. Having a common taste for serenity and art the couple spent most of their times at the woods. And in one of the trees they made a small tree house. The tree was dead, but still it was strong and firm to carry the couple’s crafted utopia. She remembered everything as she looked at that tree. Then she noticed something different about the tree. There on the heart of the tree was a note carved for many years now. The girl hadn’t noticed it until the time she was looking for him. She climbed up the ladder towards their house, and there she found the boy facedown the table with a pencil on his right hand. The girl thought he must’ve fallen asleep while writing. Unfortunately, the boy was already dead. But he left something on his table. A note for his beloved, and a story that would make her remember the times they spent together and the love he had for her. The story was about a lonely tree and a little bird. And the note reads, “Until we meet again, my love.” The tree shed a drop of tear before he breathed his last. The bird remembered everything after she had read that last line. But as she looked at her friend, he was already gone. A fruit was hanging at the edge in one of the tree’s barren branches. The bird felt very sad. She remembered her promise to her friend, to carve out the last line of her story on her friend’s trunk. So she did. She perfectly carved out every single letter at the heart of her friend. And it reads, “My love, how can I ever forget, until we meet again.” The bird left and carried with her the only fruit bore out of the barren tree. She buried it on the ground, and went back to fulfil her purpose: to stay beside her lover forever.” “YOU WILL NEVER KNOW HOW IT KILLS ME, BUT I’LL BE HERE PATIENTLY WAITING EVEN IF REMEMBERING for you might be the hardest thing.” :( te echo de menos!
