Monday is a somber day of back to work, so I thought Id change things up a bit and throw a ballad out there for Jessicas education about cool music from the 80s. (This should just about the lively kill discussion weve had on this subject.) This song is not in itself weird, other than the fact that it is a ballad by a rock band, Slade. This was sort of a thing in the 80s (and still is I suppose.) Night Ranger had their ballad Sister Christian (the lyrics of which I have never comprehended - 1983), Poison had Every Rose Has Its Thorn (1988) and Ratt had Body Talk (1986). (I dont known if those two bands ever toured together, but if they did it should have been called the Ratt-Poison Tour. But I digress.) Slade as a band had been around since the 60s (believe it... or not) and enjoyed some popularity in the 80s as a metal band. However I will always remember them for their hit My Oh My. (1983) Its a crescendo song, an idea they no doubt got from listening to Ravels Bolero. Dont a woman need a man? Try and catch one if you can...
