Monday, it came to my attention that the National Press Club and the Capitol Press Club were hosting a panel discussion called “Coverage of Race in America” with a focus on Ferguson and Staten Island. The panel selected did not have a representative from the Latino journalism community, among others. The National Press Club graciously heard my concerns and wanted to work on future projects together. I agreed we should, but I pressed that it was important to have a Latino voice on this panel, at this time and about this topic. And the club agreed to including a Latino Voice on the panel. Gilbert Bailon, Editor from the St. Louis Post-Dispatch and former #NAHJ President will be on the panel January 26th. More details here: nahj.org/journalism-panel-on-race-now-to-include-latino-voice/
