Monday morning marks one year of my parenting adventure with Baby - TopicsExpress

Monday morning marks one year of my parenting adventure with Baby Chris! He came to my home on the hill at the beginning of December last year. For those that know little of DFCS fostering, Chris arrived at my home with no car seat and little else to help me care for this 2 1/2 month old infant. It took me 2 months to get his birthdate. He gave little to no eye contact and stared constantly at ceiling light fixtures. I had to break a young infant of feeding himself. Chris is a champion! He is now walking, talking (well words, not sentence structures), and is one of the happiest toddlers you could meet. He has a great sense of play now as he tries to make me laugh daily. He is also lucky that with all the friends of mine that fell in love with him over this year, a few actually stepped up and become official caregivers. They even volunteered to be cleared by DFCS so I could...CATCH A BREAK! (smiles) Love and generosity go so far but I could see that I needed to find a way to access some Margie Time! First Jeannine Henderson volunteered and within this same week, Jaime Mahany Wynns and Mark Wynns did as well. Now, I get to make a plan to go somewhere without a child, like a normal parent that plans for a babysitter (as a foster parent no child can be left for any length of time unless it is with a DFCS cleared caregiver). Chris is a great gift to many people but most of all to me this year. Over the next month or two, my time raising Chris will come to a close but I hope that the love I shared will go with him forever...because the love he shared SURE WILL! Happy Anniversary Chris from one of your many moms! oxox
