Monday will be out last day of mild weather until next weekend. Highs on Monday will reach 61-66 under mostly cloudy skies. Winds remain out of the Southwest around 10 mph today, before a strong, dry cold front moves through tonight. This front will drop morning lows to below freezing by Tuesday, and switch winds around out of the North. Tuesday AM expect a cold and blustery morning with mostly cloudy skies. A coastal low pressure system providing the moisture to our storm will move northeast through the day Tuesday. Precipitation could begin as early as mid afternoon. The main concern initially at the coast is for freezing rain and sleet, before changing to snow. The ocean temperature is around 48 degrees, warming the air along the coast just enough initially for this to create a sleet/freezing rain issue before changing to snow overnight Tuesday. In the Pee Dee, snow will begin a little later, but there is a much greater chance of not seeing sleet, therefore higher snowfall totals. Wind and cold will also be an issue, as winds overnight Tuesday will be around 20+ mph, with temperatures in the 20s, creating dangerous wind chills and potential for power outages. The best thing to do is prepare for the potential for any power outages, and stay tuned for government and school cancelations.
