Mondays Melodic Memories: Loser, Beck - I had a lot of friends in high school, but my two closest were certainly Mike Donner and Nathan Foote. Im pretty sure Ive written about Don Juan and Nate Dogg previously on this continuing series of trips down my memorys lane. We all worked together at KFC, we hung out constantly, we DJed dances together, and we all had a pretty similar taste in music. I remember when this Beck song was released, it got popular really quickly. It was just different enough from what had come before it to have some real staying power on radio. And I dont know if Nathan really enjoyed this song as much as it appeared, but I recall him turning it up every time it came on the radio and really getting into it when wed play it at dances. Its also one of the few songs I can remember him singing along to. So shave your face with some mace in the dark; savin all your food stamps and burnin down the trailer park.
