Money is important. No doubt about it. The hot topic nowadays is Human Auctions and how these auctions are dehumanizing and turning the human person into a commodity. I understand the point of the admin re: these auctions but honestly, Ive participated in these twice and I dont feel commodified. They say there are not enough rules and that the auctions are too generalized, I feel like they havent completely seen the entire picture, because most of the orgs are pretty specific when it comes to human auctions. The memo was not thought about too clearly. They didnt try to understand the students. And when you dont try to understand the students, by decreeing the halt of human auctions, you are essentially pushing away the student body and creating distance and a gap between the admin and the student body. Wed love to adjust our human auctions so that it could better highlight talents or whatever instead of just the human person. JUST TALK TO US. COMMUNICATE. HELLLOOOOOO WERE RIGHT HERE. ERRDAY. IN SCHOOL. WHAT I REALLY WANT TO TALK ABOUT IS WHAT ACTUALLY MAKES ME FEEL DEHUMANIZED WHEN IT COMES TO MONEY AND THIS IS FORCED EXTRACTION OF MONEY IN FUNDRAISERS OF ORGS (sorry, especially bc orgs) What I dislike about my org is that when we need funds, we end up doing UNDERGROUND fund raisers where we have to sell cookies, or other sweetstuff to people. If I dont get to sell my part, I HAVE TO PAY FOR IT. UHM... PLS. BAKIT? FORCED HUMAN LABOR! AT LEAST YUNG HUMAN AUCTION MAY CONSENT KO. Eto, pwersahan lang talaga eh. walang respeto. And this is not the only instance! In my friends org, theyre REQUIRED TO DONATE CLOTHES as a fund raiser, you cant donate just 1 item, kailang pumili ng 3 sets from a lists of sets (Possible sets: 5 shirts, 3 shorts, etc) di pa nahiya. kailangan ng SETS PA. TAPOS KUNG AYAW MO DAW MAG DONATE, MAGBIGAY KA NA LANG NG 350 PESOS.
