Monroe County commissioners have come up with their own guidelines - TopicsExpress

Monroe County commissioners have come up with their own guidelines for alerting motorists about travel advisories when wintry weather unleashes its ugly face. Tuesday night, the county Board of Commissioners unveiled a 14-page draft of a snow and winter weather emergency plan for closing highways and roads when heavy snow greater than eight inches or other conditions make it impossible for road crews to maintain open and passable lanes for traffic. No action was taken on the proposal. The plan will be discussed at a joint meeting of other county officials at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday at the county Emergency Management Division office off S. Raisinville Rd. just south of the MSU Extension Office. Representatives from the sheriffs office, Michigan State Police, road commission and emergency management are expected to attend.
