Monsieur Gilliard gave Grand Duchess Olga an assignment...read Les Miserables en Francais and underline any word you are unfamiliar with. ;) Well, when Olga came to the part in the book describing a French officers one work exclaimer at the battle of Waterloo, she underlined it. She likely thought about it after Monsieur retired for the evening and who better to go to with a question then your Papa. When Monsieur Gilliard found out Olga asked Nicholas what the M word meant..(en Francais), he said What! You asked your father?! Nicholas told Olga NOT to repeat the M word but also said in the mouth of that general it was the finest word in the French language. When Monsieur Gilliard saw Nicholas the next day, he was apparently flustered but Nicholas burst out laughing and said: No worries... ..that word was one of the French armys greatest claims to fame. images *Monsieur..what does this M word mean? *Olga contemplating the M word...hmmmm. ;) *Nicholas to his officer Did you hear the word Olga used?
