Montage of Alicia Sacramone, Chellsie Memmel, Rebecca Bross, and Jordyn Wieber. To me, when I heard the term wrecking ball I immediately thought of gymnasts who put everything they have into their gymnastics. Gymnasts who dont give up even after a fall or an injury or circumstances they cannot control. When I listened to this song and heard the lyric dont you ever say I just walked away I knew I wanted to make a montage of gymnasts who fought with everything they had despite adversity and heart break. These 4 gymnasts have been through countless injuries, comebacks, falls, disappointments, missed medals, etc. but they never gave up. Sure Alicia Sacramone and Chellsie Memmel are officially retired from gymnastics, but they both had several comeback attempts after multiple disappointments. All 4 of these gymnasts showed us the meaning of the term fight and sacrifice. We would have all understood if they gave up, but they never did. They kept pushing and they taught us to believe in ourselves even when the whole world doesnt. Here are the stories I featured in the order they appear in the montage: Jordyn Wieber winning the 2011 World All-Around Title in spite of a a big mistake on the uneven bars. Alicia Sacramone performing 2 amazing vaults in the 2008 Olympic Event Final but coming in 4th. Rebecca Bross falling at the 2009 and 2010 World All-Around final and coming in 2nd place and 3rd place, never winning the World AA title. Jordyn Wieber giving it her all during the 2012 Olympic Team Prelims, but missing out on the chance to qualify into the All-Around finals because she was the third best American. Alicia Sacramone leading the 2007 World Championships team to a gold medal, then falling short twice in the 2008 Olympic team final and missing the team gold medal. Chellsie Memmel falling in the 2008 Olympic Prelims and only being able to contribute her bar routine to the team final because of an injury. Jordyn Wieber having two mistakes in her 2012 Olympic Event Final floor routine and missing out on a medal. Chellsie Memmel in her spectacular comeback at the 2011 National Championships only to be denied entry to the 2012 National Championships because of two falls on the beam at the 2012 US Classic and a hidden rule stating she had to receive a certain qualifying score to compete at the 2012 National Championships. She fell short of that qualifying score and her petition was not granted to compete in the 2012 National Championships. Alicia Sacramone winning a gold medal on vault at the 2010 World Championships and redeeming herself on the balance beam. She goes on to have a great performance at the 2012 Olympic Trials, but falls short of making the team. Chellsie Memmel performing the floor routine of her life at the Olympic Trials and making the Olympic Team in 2008, only to be denied a chance to perform at the 2012 Olympic National championships and Trials and taking on a new role of being a judge instead of a gymnast. Rebecca Bross falling at the 2012 Olympic Trials on her nemesis skill, the double Arabian on beam, and failing to make the Olympic Team. Then flashing back to the 2010 National Championships where she hit the same skill and went on to become the 2010 National Champion. Jordyn Wieber bobbling on beam and missing the chance to compete in the 2012 Olympic All Around Championships. The last image of Alicia Sacramone in competitive gymnastics, it is a shot of her smiling and tearing up after nailing her two trademark vaults. She goes on to miss the chance to compete in the 2012 Olympics despite being ready and performing well at trials.
