Montgomery, Ala., 1958: The Rev. Martin Luther King Jr. being pushed against a Montgomery, Alabama police station booking desk as his stunned wife, Coretta Scott King, looks on. Dr. King was arrested for loitering at the courthouse for failing to obey a request to leave as he attempted to enter a courtroom to witness a criminal proceeding - as was his right to do. He was released after his identity became known.
