Months ago, we discussed a case about baseball fans assuming risks of being hit by errant fly-balls, vendor-tossed hot dogs, and even canon-launched t-shirts. What about the players and coaches on the field? What risks have they assumed. In the present case, a team coach is suing one of his players for flinging his helmet in celebration of a game-winning hit. The helmet allegedly struck the coachs heel, causing injury. Where would you hold on this issue? Should coaches be on the lookout for flying helmets, or do players owe a duty of care not to wildly toss their gear? posted by - Matt Bycer
