Moondog Black Lung IV American Oak-Aged Smoky Stout, 9.1% ABV Im really digging this on a rainy day in Perth. It has a subtle sweetness offset by the oak and smoke, both of which are balanced at just the right level, so they play off each other rather than one or the other dominating (think Pacino and De Niro in Heat). The smoke in particular isnt too much and isnt too little. I often find that smoke beers dont have enough body and the smokiness ends up seeming kind of hollow and added on - not here though, where this full bodied, big ABV stout carries it perfectly, accentuating and adding to what is already an excellent beer. Really, really good, 8.5 / 10.
