Zimbabwes music superstar Oliver Tuku Mtukudzi and his Black Spirits band arrived in the United Kingdom last Saturday ahead of this weekend’s tour with Alick Macheso. Through his powerful lyrics, renowned Zimbabwean musician Oliver Mtukudzi has spoken out against stigma, discrimination and abuse of children. Amongst numerous awards and recognitions, Mtukudzi is UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador for Eastern and Southern Africa. He is also a crowd-puller and his shows are never disappointing. His band raised the Flag of Zimbabwe when they participated at the world-renowned WOMAD Music Festival for the first time with other internationally acclaimed musicians. Oliver Mtukudzi is well known throughout all of Africa as one of the most successful African singers and ranked among the best Bass guitarists on the continent. Mr. Mtukudzi will continue to push these humanitarian aims as he assumes his role as UNICEF Regional Goodwill Ambassador for Eastern and Southern Africa, focusing on young peoples development, on HIV/Aids prevention.
