Harbor Blvd, Oxnard,CA reservations: 805 204-0970 The unique flavors of the famous dish of Espirito Santo’s state, the “Moqueca Capixaba”, was first brought to California in the end of 2008. The beautiful coast of Southern California was the place chosen by the family that owns and run’s “Moqueca Brazilian Cuisine”, the diversity of the sea life found around this coast, the mixture of cultures and flavors as the people appreciation for a fresh seafood were things that attracted this region to be the location for the Restaurant. Symbol of its regional cuisine and appreciated everywhere, the moqueca is known for its peculiar way of cooking and serving this dish in hand made clay pots. The name “moqueca” designates exactly this way of preparation which is using these clay pots at high temperatures to quickly cook the fish (or other kind of seafood) on a reduction of tomatoes with onions, garlic, cilantro, coconut milk and urucum, without addition of water. The moqueca is served on the same clay pot it was cooked, always combined with seasoned white rice. The “malagueta” peppers are recommended (moderately) for an additional heat. Enjoy Moqueca.
