Morality. A Few thoughts and frustrations. 1. If God exists and is the foundation of morality, It applies to everyone REGARDLESS of belief. This means whats good for Christians is also good for atheists and vice versa. 2. Belief in God is NEVER going to be the foundation of Objective morality. If you believe morals are objective, your are stupid. 3. Morals are ONLY a set of rules. I can not stress this enough. The chess example tells us that two people can interact, with out some imaginary transcendent standard. 4.There is no valid morality, in the Bible is you have to rely on faith and authority or tradition. A valid morality is one that is reasoned and contains knowledge. 5. Christians will not suddenly become evil bastards if they lose their faith to reason. Look how many atheists have come from Christianity and now are very mindful people like myself. 6.Losing the magical carrot makes your morality better. Do the right thing, because its right and not because of some reward you hope to get. Or doing the right thing to avoid a bad consequence in the after life, Hell. 7.Jesus dying for others sins is not MORAL. Blaming others, or vicarious redemption is appalling. Blaming the children for the sins of the father is unethical. 8.Discussing morality with theists is FRUSTRATING. You create imaginary standards and NEVER demonstrate them, ie morals need to be objective or they dont exist? Bullshit 9.Christians are in the same damn boat! We do the best we can with the knowledge at hand and hope for the best outcome. 10. Faith in God is not an objective standard. Okay rant over!
