More Orson Welles news! Back in 1938, Welles had planned to make three silent movies as part of the Mercury Theatre multi-media revival of the play Too Much Johnson. The shorts were unfinished, never publicly screened and were considered lost until a 35mm nitrate work print was found last year in an Italian warehouse. The 10 reels were preserved by the George Eastman House in collaboration with the Cineteca del Friuli and Cinemazero thanks to a grant by the National Film Preservation Foundation And now the NFPF is streaming Too Much Johnson on its web site. Presented are the 66-minute work print, as well as an re-imagining of how they three films might have looked had they been completed. The films feature a new score by Michael Mortilla.
