More U.S. National Orienteering Championships results: The Long was won by Théo Fleurent of the French national Team. Eric Bone of the U.S. Team was the best American. Alex Jospe of the U.S. Team won for the Women. The Middle was also won by Théo Fleurent, and Sergei Ryzhkov of the Belarus national Team was the best American. Kseniya Popova of the U.S. Team won on the Womens side, I think it was her first gold? I was 8th U.S./17th overall in the Long, and 10th U.S./20th overall in the Middle. These are my personal best places in the respective disciplines as an eligible American. The Long placing came despite an awful 7-minute error two checkpoints before the finish, I guess I was smelling the barbecue a bit prematurely :( I was super tired for the Middle, but managed arguably my best short orienteering performance in 5 years or so, only one mistake, hope the ranking points will reflect it. North American Orienteering Championships in Ottawa are coming this weekend and Beatrice and I will be there! Im looking forward to a new set of personal bests. Congratulations to Eric for still whooping the youngsters butts after 20+ years.
