More and more people are being fired and detained without due process. Innocent people sit on remand for months, having never been convicted. We see athletes being fined and cut for alleged incidents that have not been proven and for which no trial has occurred. It is worth paying attention to government legislation that increasingly restricts the rights and freedoms of Canadians in response to terrorism. The terrorists are winning when isolated incidents result in military budgets skyrocketing and millions of innocent people losing the rights our 44,000 soldiers died for in the Second World War. There must be a balance between addressing terrorism and protecting Canadian civil liberties.
