A man at the scene of Michael Browns death echoes the view of James Baldwin in the midst of the 1968 riots: people who are divided by so many miles of the globe, and by so many other things, should begin consider that they have something in common ... What they have in common is to get the man off their backs. Its a very dangerous and frightening idea for Americans, because it happens to be true.
