More images from NASAs recent visit to the park. These show researchers using a LIDAR imaging system to create a highly-detailed 3-D image of Indian Tunnel. Although not taken from the exact same location as the standard photo next to it, you can see the LIDAR-generated image captures many of the same features of the lava tube.Testing these experimental images where they can be easily compared to the real features by scientists (aka, ground-truthing) will give them more confidence later as they study images like these from Mars and elsewhere.
