More on Paul Dever, Abandoned houses and buildings often acquire a reputation for all kinds of activity. Perhaps the locals created myths about the place just from the intimidating feeling they get when looking at abandoned structures. Or perhaps a person had an experience there with the Unknown. They can also be a magnet for it as well. Places like this are a good place to conduct criminal activity and/or cult activity, both potentially bringing negative energy in. There are a few other hospitals/asylums in Taunton which are known to be haunted. Much more than the Paul Dever Institution. In one place in Taunton, Satanism was practiced by the employees there on the patients since the 30s it is rumored. Paul Dever is always thrown to the side and dismissed. When it first was built, it was a jail for war criminals after WWII. After that it may have been a female jail, although there is no evidence of this. And then after that it was a school/hospital for the mentally challenged and/or deformed. It is said that immoral methods of surgical practice took place there, resulting in many deaths. There is a mass burial there also. It may also be the site of murder rapes on the children. If a wealthy family had a deformed child, they were looked down on. And it is rumored they were sent here. And tortured. Hush money is why none of the information was disclosed. Paul dever had to close due to lawsuits, but what were these lawsuits for? The shadowlands will tell you that spook lights can be seen, but this may be due to the fact it is near a major road, and kids like to go in there at night with their flashlights. They will also tell you screams can be heard and there is the spirit of a pre-teen that has been seen. But they will not tell you the history.
