More on Venezuela: VENEZUELA KILLING DEMONSTRATORS TOO One thing you are NOT going to see in Venezuela is a too-good-to-be-true stepping down of the Nicolas Maduro regime (Communist Hugo Chavez’ handpicked successor). He’s a rabid Marxist like his mentor and is using every trick in the book to denigrate and undermine the growing opposition. The protests in Venezuela against Chavez were huge before, but under Maduro they’ve grown to the largest yet and have spread to every major city in the country, not just in Caracas the capitol. The Chavez political machine has rigged every election after the first one where he barely made it into power. That’s par for the course for communists who get into office democratically. Even though a benefit-corrupted majority may vote in a communist, it doesn’t make it right—because socialism is by nature a violation of individual property rights. Democracy is like two wolves and a sheep voting on who’s going to be eaten for dinner. Majority power doesn’t make it right. When Chavez was elected, he promised more and more benefits until even Venezuela’s oil revenues couldn’t keep pace. Nicolas Maduro tried to continue this practice and naturally they had to turn to printing money to fund the deficits. When you can’t spread your inflated currency around the world, it turns up as high inflation at home. Under the crumbling leadership of Maduro high inflation has set in—50-60% per year and rising. When that happens in Latin America, the people start buying dollars to protect their purchasing power. Maduro stepped in to stop the dollar trade and people started buying tickets to Miami to get dollars. But the unrest is not just about inflation. The government is not only socialist but highly abusive and controlling. Rationing and price controls are in effect. Price controls always lead to shortages as few can afford to produce and sell at the controlled price when the black market price of raw materials is skyrocketing. As one reader from Venezuela wrote, You go to a grocery store to buy food, and after you present your papers please documentation, they give you an electronic coupon/ticket that is scanned with all the items youve just bought. So if you buy a chicken in one grocery store, its listed on the coupon. If you go to another grocery store to buy another chicken, and you are refused because it shows that youve already bought one chicken and youre only allowed to buy that one chicken, etc. etc. And then there’s the skyrocketing violent crime rate—the highest murder and abduction rate in Latin America and perhaps the world. The police are corrupt in Venezuela and even the government has admitted that over 20% of crimes are committed by police. Roving vigilantes in ghetto areas have formed up to go after this crime and drug wave but are now becoming a law unto themselves. Maduro and his regime have given the green light to these roving vigilantes on motorcycles, known as colectivos (Spanish for communist “collectives”) and Tupamaros (harking back to the communist terrorists of Uruguay and Argentina in the 60s). They’ve now been driving through middle class and wealthy neighborhoods shooting into buildings and firebombing apartments, killing people at will. There are ample videos on YouTube showing how widespread this violence is. My source said that, My parents live in a very huge, ritzy apartment building in Caracas, and the local police knelt on the sidewalk outside their building and aimed their guns into his parents apt. building windows, threw Molotov cocktails into other apt. buildings causing them to burn down, and his mother has to leave for work at 3:30 a.m. in order to get to work on time by 8:00 a.m. due to all the barricades. Other Latin American countries with Communist leaders are Ecuador, Bolivia, Brazil and Chile. Each, except Chile who is playing it cool so far, is giving open support to the Maduro regime. Sadly, El Salvador has fallen into the same trap as Venezuela. After a US brokered “peace” with the communist guerillas in the 1980s, the Farabundo Martí National Liberation Front (FMLN), has finally gained electoral power and rules the country. Just like Venezuela, the benefit corruption of voters continues to solidify the power of the Left to maintain majoritarian control. But drug traffickers and violent gangs are also increasing throughout that country.
