More propaganda and lies: "The history of wildfires throughout the West and the aftermath of the mountain pine beetle epidemic are evidence that forests must no longer be thought of as a wild and vast landscapes; they must actively be managed. The problem is getting people to change the way they think about the forests, said Dan Schroder, a natural resources extension agent for Colorado State University." Seriously? The reason that there was a mountain pine beetle epidemic was because of the heavy logging known as "management" in those forests and the planting of even aged stands of ponderosa. The forests that are the most unhealthy and at risk are the ones that have been actively managed and to present this as if the opposite is true is insane and an outright manipulation of the truth. The article is correct in stating that the problem is "getting people to change the way they think about the forests" but not in the way this article suggests. Forests are complex communities that depend on every working piece to function in a healthy way. When the Forest Service cuts roads through these forests, takes trees for timber, mulches living trees into pieces spit back onto the ground, destroys intricate networks of mycelium, opens up the canopy and "manages" the forests as if they were agricultural crops, disaster is what always follows. summitdaily/news/8110035-113/forest-wildfire-county-health
