More reactions trail Ozekhome’s kidnap Angry reactions have continued to trail the recent brutal murder of the security aides and eventual abduction of the human right lawyer, Chief Mike Ozekhome, SAN, at Ehor, Edo State. Reacting to the ugly incident in Owerri, the President, Youths Enhancement Organisation, YEO, Mr. Obinna Egbuka, wondered why anybody or group of persons would willingly toy with a man that laid his life for the good of the Nigerian masses, during the military interregnum. “Chief Ozekhome is a human right activist, who has been actively involved in championing issues and matters that benefits Nigeria and its citizens”, Mr. Egbuka said. Continuing, Mr. Egbuka lamented that Ozekhome’s kidnap is a strong indication that Nigeria’s leaders should urgently address the economic and security lapses prevalent in the country. “Ozekhome’s kidnap is a strong call for the nation’s leaders to urgently address the economic and security situation in Nigeria to forestall the reoccurrence of these ugly events in this land”, Egbuka added. Meanwhile, Association of Edo Professionals has also condemned the kidnap of Chief Mike Ozekhome, SAN, just as they appealed to the kidnappers for his immediate release. In a statement by a member of the Board of Trustees of the group, Mr. Victor Osarenren, he said it is high time government provide gainful and respectable jobs for the youths. His words: “The issue of kidnapping has assumed very frightening and disturbing dimensions in Edo State and Nigeria and this brings to the fore issues of glaring moral deficit in our society. It is time we come together to find ways and means of redirecting the innate potentials of our youths towards productive ventures and concerted efforts should be made to address the ever growing gap between the rich and the poor in our society”. Calling for the release of Ozekhome, the group said, “We join other well meaning citizens of Edo state and Nigeria to make a very passionate appeal to the kidnappers of our beloved patriot, Mr Mike Ozekhome to release him unconditionally”.
