More than a decade ago, the MALAMPANYA GAS PLANT went into full operations. The Gas plant brought hope to many that it will indubitably bail out the Philippines from the bondage of total dependence from imported sources of energy. However, since the time it operated, consumers can attest to the fact that it hardly made any difference on the cost and or price of electricity, did it really make a difference? How can an ordinary person make an assessment of the real value of this Malampaya Gas plant? it is indeed very difficult if you are uneducated when it comes to this highly technical matter. Can we the ordinary citizen have a way of knowing the real impact of the Malampaya Gas Plant to residents of Metro Manila? yes, we can, by going back to the time when this power plant was not yet existing....
