More than seven months after the August 2013 Million People’s March, the Office of the Ombudsman has finally indicted three very high government officials: Senators Juan Ponce-Enrile, Jinggoy Estrada and Bong Revilla, for allegedly diverting more than P600 million of taxpayers’ funds. In other countries, executive and legislative officials step down from their posts when their wrongdoings are exposed. This is why the Scrap Pork Network launched a petition calling on Enrile, Estrada and Revilla to resign immediately from the Senate. The petition also says that if they don’t, the people should pressure the Senate to start moves for expulsion.
