More update in my Soviet-Afghan War T-62 mod. 62 with BTU-55 dozer - TopicsExpress

More update in my Soviet-Afghan War T-62 mod. 62 with BTU-55 dozer blade. I did some work on the rear armour plate. I have added Eduard PE parts for the unditching log mounts. I glued only the pedestal parts of the mount to the rear plate, because I have never seen a photo of a Soviet T-62 in Afghanistan with the unditching log strapped in place, despite having a 500+ photos of them from that area. So I have left off the PE straps from there. Due to Trumpeter lower hull not being dimensionally accurate the upper and lower part of each pedestal are positioned too close to each other - actually there should be a significant gap between them, which you can see on the reference photo. I had the additional fuel drum mounts half done in the past, so I only had to add the PE straps to finish the job. The plastic equivalents of the straps were removed from the fuel drums, too. The process of forming and adding Eduard PE straps to the fuel barrel mounts was tedious and actually a little bit of PITA - the final result is unsatisfactory to me, as only one strap from the four in total looks exactly as on the reference photos, three others look as if being screwed together too close - hope situation like this was present in reality... I painted partially the lower hull, idlers, sprockets and the roadwheels next, after they dried thoroughly, I glued them to the lower hull. I have assembled the tracks next, they went together smoothly, 95 links per side. I have formed the track shape on the roadwheels and let them dry overnight. After that I did some work to the turret, I have glued the MG and main gun sight apertures. I have also glued the coaxial MG ad drilled out the barrel end. Then the turret lifting hooks, shell ejection port and loaders periscope (partially done with PE part from Eduard), other small fittings on the turret were placed. The rear positioning light on turret was assembled with its mount replaced by PE part from Eduard. The upper and lower turret halves were glued together. Two headlights were glued on the glacis, with the clear parts left off for later instaliation. Thats all for now...
