Morgan used to take me on 1 on 1 tours in The Bronx. He was always determined to show Gods treasures that reside just beneath our feet. Nature was a sacred place for him. I love him so much! It never mattered if it was early morning or late afternoon. He never said no. We would always find a great Jamaican spot to eat Akai or Porrage after our long trek. Im so humbled and privliged to have shared a deep friendship with such a brilliant giving mind and soul... Today, I tried to distract myself. But, he kept popping up in my brain. My disbelief has morphed into anger, sadness and bargaining. In talking with Nilka and all of our friends, it was so evident, he shared himself with the entire planet. So many NYC lives he touched. Were all reeling. But, he would put on that broad sweet smile and say Oh My God!!! And set us on another happy journey. Thats how we must deal with this devestating loss. He would want us to continue his and by definition our work, his and, our passion through our continued activism. We must be the change, we wish to see in the world... #RIPMorganPowell1973-2014...
