(BOM) Weather Situation The monsoon trough extends from Ex-Tropical Cyclone Fletcher near the southeastern Gulf of Carpentaria, to the North Tropical Coast near Cooktown, and then through the northern Coral Sea and to Tropical Cyclone Edna near New Caledonia. The monsoon trough is expected to remain active over northern Queensland and the Coral Sea until the weekend. A high will enter the Tasman Sea today, extending a firm ridge along the east coast to the south of the monsoon trough and eventually extending the ridge north to Torres Strait during the weekend. A trough will most likely move west over the Coral Sea late in the week. Forecasts are highly dependent on the development and movement of any lows or troughs in the Coral Sea and Gulf of Carpentaria. Southeast Coast Forecast Forecast for the rest of Wednesday Partly cloudy. Isolated showers, increasing to scattered from the south during the day. Winds south to southeasterly 20 to 25 km/h, increasing to 30 to 35 km/h in the morning, then easing to 25 to 30 km/h. Daytime maximum temperatures around 30. Wide Bay and Burnett Forecast Forecast for the rest of Wednesday Partly cloudy. Isolated showers. Winds southeasterly 20 to 30 km/h. Daytime maximum temperatures around 30. Darling Downs and Granite Belt Forecast: Forecast for the rest of Wednesday Partly cloudy. Isolated showers in the southeast until this evening. Winds east to southeasterly 25 to 35 km/h. Daytime maximum temperatures 28 to 33. Capricornia Forecast Forecast for the rest of Wednesday Partly cloudy. Isolated showers, mostly in the north. Winds east to southeasterly 15 to 20 km/h, increasing to 25 to 30 km/h in the morning, then easing to 20 to 25 km/h. Daytime maximum temperatures 28 to 33. (Squeak)
