Morning Mantra… Always be honest.........and start with yourself. How we experience life is largely governed by how we think about it. If we fall into societies trap of placing all our focus on acquiring material wealth; if we buy into defining our societal position with labels, the acquisition of things, and private clubs and memberships. These alone will not propel your life experience into the realm of excellence. There must be a good measure of inside work to bring harmony to your life. When we focus only on the appearance of things, or we pour all of our energy into making sure that our physical appearance is healthy. We deny the part of ourselves where our soul resides and so ever so slowly we begin to die. Because things cannot bring you happiness, and a focus on defining yourself with material wealth and physical appearance ensures that you are empty inside. So while there is nothing wrong with enjoying nice things, and partaking of lifes little luxuries. We must be honest with ourselves about our ability to afford them because each time you are honest, you propel yourself toward greater success. Each time you lie, even a little, you push yourself toward failure. In the race of excellence in life, there is no finish line. Be more concerned with your character than your reputation. Especially if you have built your reputation on acquiring things and giving the appearance of living large. When you stretch your personal truth and place too much emphasis on how your life looks to the outside world, it always snaps back to hurt you. So bring harmony back to your life......focus on the inside and the outside. Your legacy will come from your character, not what you accumulate. Stephen R. Covey said When we borrow our strength from the label on our shirt, shoes, or dress; from our association with a club; from our position of influence, power and prestige; from our car, beautiful house, or other status symbols and trappings; or from our good looks, stylish clothing, fashionable appearance, clever tongue, or degrees and credentials , we do so in order to compensate for being impoverished and hollow inside. But by doing so, we reinforce our dependency on these symbols, on living by appearances, on extrinsic values, and we build weakness within.
