Morning...One of the fitness pages wrote a couple of days ago that people lose their motivation at this time of year when they shouldnt as it is just one day and not an excuse to indulge yourself for 2 whole weeks. Whilst I agree there is no need to gorge yourselves for 2 weeks solidly, I beg to differ that it is just one day. Its not as simple as abstaining from everything till the 25th, eating what you like then getting back to it on the 26th. I think Christmas is a family time and a time to catch up with friends and work colleagues so therefore making it more than one day. Why should you turn down a chance of a glass of wine with someone you havent had chance to at the office Christmas party? Why shouldnt you indulge in the odd chocolate that a patient has sent to say thank you for her care? I am not for one for minute saying abandon your motivation or your goals for the month of December but I do feel its unrealistic to expect people not to relax and slip a little. Surely that is part of the process too, being able to say yes sometimes as well as saying no all the time. There is an old adage about too much work makes Jack a dull boy. .....better to think 2 chocolates has not ruined my day, or can have a couple of glasses of wine tonight as I have rare company. Its about not giving up and getting back to it the next day, having those treats to look forward to when you have been working hard. I think its called life!
