Morning Spiritheads I see Mike L has been typing a lil on the subject but my question still stands about WHISKY WHO MADE IT FIRST and WHERE... I am not going into too much about this but this is some infomation about what I found. WHO FIRST MADE WHISKY? Most authorities say that the first whiskey manufacture was Friar John Cor in 1494/1495, at least thats the first recored account. The story always trotted out is that Irish missionaries brought the knowledge of distillation to Scotland. Here is alt. view: The first distillation of Scotch whiskey may have been about six hundred and fifty years earlier than Friar Cor, and around 845 AD courtesy of the arrival of the Vikings. They stole the Bere the precusor to modern Barley from Syria during a war and drank the new potion a wonderful, magical, Water of Life? Pretty useful stuff for a warrior. The Vikings were more or less in the right place at the right time..and to end this DNA of the BERE plant is found in Norway today. I new I liked those wild and crazy guys.#ChefStevemoonshinecity
