Morning guys, If any of you are interested in potentially - TopicsExpress

Morning guys, If any of you are interested in potentially solving a real-world problem, then try tackling the following: So back in 2012, I came across a documentary about a medical condition I had never heard of called dystonia. Its a condition that makes your muscles contract constantly, eventually resulting in a twisted body. There is still no cure. The guy in this documentary, Jason Dunn, has a pretty severe case of it. https://youtube/watch?v=BXOTb4ZxKDI I dont know entirely why, but his story really got to me. I kept racking my brain trying to figure out a way this ailment could be remedied or at least managed. Then I got an idea at around the 16:50 minute mark. Its noted that when he sleeps, his contractions stop. Im guessing the mechanism that causes sleep paralysis also overrides his condition too. So his body *can* stop the contractions under certain conditions. I gather the same is true for others with dystonia. I know there are progressive muscle relaxation techniques that can almost mimic atonia, but I’m sure he and dystonics have tried that, so it must not work for this condition in a general sense. I would have suggested neurofeedback training, but I gather it’s too weak, as one of the the-best-we-can-do treatments out there is Pallidal Deep Brain Stimulation (DBS), which is sort of like neurofeedback on steroids. What I’m interested in hearing right now are ideas from you that are worth exploring. I can research them later for merit. I’ve been told numerous times in private messages that many folks don’t feel comfortable responding on a thread because one or two people attack others left and right, shooting down everything they may say as being stupid. I really hope that doesn’t happen this time. I want to think we can all work to make that the case, but if you have an idea and still don’t feel comfortable sharing, then just send me a private message. This includes “silly” ideas, as they often turn out to work or lead to something else that’s workable. Thanks!
