Morongo Basin – Reach Out Morongo Basin celebrated 15 years of service through its “neighbors helping neighbors” programs on Saturday June 15, 2013 at the Joshua Tree Retreat Center. With many community members in attendance the event highlighted the vision of the 29 Palms Ministerial Association when it was formed in 1998. Remembrances of Milt Merritt, one of the original founders of the organization then known as Reach Out 29 by Rev. Dr. Lou Gerhardt and Reach Out board secretary Kurt Schauppner brought laughter and rounds of applause. With live music by The Luminators, delicious homemade desserts provided by Reach Out volunteer Barbara Finnegan and auction items ranging from artwork to gift baskets donated by community members and local businesses Reach Out raised almost $1800 to fund its programs for seniors and the disabled. Reach Out organizers would like to thank all its sponsors and the community for their support through the years and look forward to many more years of service to our neighbors here in the Morongo Basin!
