Mosquito Shield responds to weather-induced West Nile virus alert. With large amounts of rain and temperatures reaching into the 90s during the first week of June, experts are warning that a higher occurrence of West Nile Virus in the Northeast is likely during the summer of 2013. Public health officials contend that this month’s proliferation of rain and heat amounts to the “perfect storm” for mosquitoes that thrive in warm, moist environments.
